Mesquite Day School is an Early Head Start Program for low income families with infants and toddlers, birth to 36 months of age. Early Head Start is a no-cost program for qualifying families. Mesquite Day School (MDS) is an inclusive school for children with and without special needs. The program focuses on a child's social, emotional, nutritional and developmental needs.

The goals of MDS-Early Head Start are:

• To partner with parents to enhance their children's physical, social,
  emotional and educational development;
• To support parents in building positive, care-giving relationships with their children;
• To strengthen families' confidence in their ability to advocate for equal access to community resources, jobs, schools and services; and
• To welcome and include children with disabilities and facilitate early intervention services for children will special needs.

Mesquite Day School uses Creative Curriculum. Through lessons and activities, the faculty nurtures and strengthens five (5) key areas of development:

• Social - the ability to work and play with others and participate in activities
• Emotional - the ability to identify, express and manage feelings and demonstrate an awareness of others' feelings
• Physical - the ability to participate in fine and gross motor activities
• Language - the ability to express one's self through oral and/or written language
• Cognitive - the ability to count, name, and think conceptually

A large percentage of the program is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families but community support is vital to the success of Mesquite Day School. Donations of in-kind services, items and monetary donations are integral in Mesquite Day School's effort to impact the lives of the children and families we serve.

Mesquite Day School is open year-round except for two weeks in the summer and most major holidays. Our hours of operation are 9am to 3pm at no cost with extended hours (for a small fee) from 7am to 6pm.
